Vehicle Granted by Food For Life Global (FFLG)

We would like to thank Food For Life Global (FFLG) for their huge support in helping deliver 100% plant-based nutrtious meals to more than 5000 children of 23 community schools that we serve regularly. In order to help ease the delivery process and reach the schools on time, FFLG granted vehicle worth USD $21,000 equivalent to NPR 2,486,666.70 on 01/07/2021.

The vehicle has been serving its purpose well and we would like to express our sincere gratitude to Food For Life Global (FFLG) once again for the generous support.

Hausala Story

Since the beginning of the nationwide lockdown, Hausala
has provided food packages to support individual,
families and also students who come under their Mid Day
Meal Program and their families. Among them, Prem Raj
Acharya is one of our consistently served beneficiaries.

Prem Raj Acharya is a 31-year old man residing in
Gokarna. He is differently abled and with no income source the
situation turns critical. Despite going through all the
adversity in life, Acharya wants to complete his Masters
degree. Our team was informed about his condition and
his extreme determination to achieve something in life.
We headed to his location to analyze the situation. It was
reported that he was living with his little brother in one
room and with no food to eat. We saw the dire need of an
emergency food relief and some support. FFLN has been
rationing Acharya consistently since the first lockdown. He is happy, grateful
and working hard to complete his masters degree.
Despite the hardships that Mr. Acharya experienced, he
remains thankful for the support that he is receiving from
FFLN and optimistic about his future.

School Lunch Preparation Center

School Lunch Preparation Center

Food for life Nepal believe that no child in Nepal shall be deprived of education because of hunger, so the School Lunch Preparation Center established with the goal of serving underprivileged children. We aim in promoting education through food. We provide freshly cooked meal in the form of ‘Mid-Day Meals’ which is currently being prepared in the ground floor kitchen.

Children receiving FFLN’s mid-day meal has grown significantly from 18 Children to 3000+ daily. Construction work for a larger and better kitchen has begun with the ability to prepare up to 10,000 meals per day.

The time frame for the project completion is one year and the total cost is estimated as 1,10,00,000.00 (One Crore Ten Lakhs Nepali Rupees) eqvt. USD 96,686.19 this also includes the labour cost. This two-storey building is being constructed on 1,078 sq. ft of land. The site plan covers 6,400 sq. ft of land with regard to future expansion plans which will also be used for office space for administration.

On 24 September 2019 The Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, Mr. Masamichi Saigo, signed a grant contract with Food for Life Nepal to build a School Lunch Preparation Center in Budhanilkantha Municipality in Kathmandu District and hoped for the betterment of the educational environment for students.

Presently, we are actively working from ground floor kitchen. We are currently serving 3472 children over 13 Schools in Budhanilkantha Municipality. Our next goal is to construct the first-floor and feed as many children as possible. Thank you for all the encouragement and support.

You made a huge impact on the lives of the children we serve and to expedite the construction process we still appreciate your continuous support.

As a food relief organization, we care a great deal about promoting health equity, which means giving everybody a fair shot at living out their full health potential. Also thousands of children are losing out on essential nutrition with schools being closed, and many families cannot afford to feed their children as they have lost their income. Providing families with the means to feed their children must be a priority to prevent children from becoming malnourished and to protect their health. A program like Hausala is just essential to that mission. It provides individuals and families support to put food on the table. It has already served many families in the community. About half those people are children, some are older adults, or people with disabilities and pregnant women. So, it really serves as a lifeline for all those people in the community.

Food For Life Global (FFLG) donated $5,000 (USD FIVE THOUSAND ONLY) on 06-November 2020, in order to support us for the food relief project during this time of pandemic. We are grateful for the generous support during such a critical time.

We have been able to feed 300 individuals for a duration of 21 days with your support.

Grant received from Food for Life Global!

‘Food Relief for the People in Need’ started during the initial days of the lock-down during the COVID-19 pandemic. The major aim of the project is to collect both funds and ration for those in need in this crucial time where people are deprived from their daily work affecting the households of many who depend on daily wage.

Food for Life Global donated $2,500 (USD TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED ONLY) in order to support us for the food relief project during this time of pandemic. We are grateful for the generous support during such a critical time.

We have been able to distribute emergency relief packages that can last for about two month for a small family to about 150 families in need till date. We have collected the data from the local government and the community to identify the most needy to avoid misuse of funds for the purpose.

Individuals and families struggling for their daily meals are required to contact us for immediate response. Distribution will be done in coordination with the local government for which the dates will be published soon on our website.

On behalf of Food for Life Nepal (FFLN), I thank you and the entire Zonta team for donating hundreds of food relief packages supporting the families in need during the COVID-19 crisis. Special thanks to Mrs. Kamal Keshari Tuladhar (Director of Service), who identified the need and provided immediate support to FFLN. Your generous contribution has been distributed to the needy in coordination with Budhanilkantha Municipality on 31st March 2020.

As communities around the world mobilize to protect their most vulnerable citizens during the crisis, we are working to ensure that our children, families, and communities in Nepal are also able to endure. Many in our community work as day labourers and are no longer earning an income, leaving them unable to buy food and other basic necessities for their family.

In response, our team has shifted focus. We are now committed to providing emergency relief packages of food and ration to the most vulnerable group in need, for as long as the crisis continues.

And, as we are able, we will expand our circle of support to include families living in our communities who are not a part of our regular programs, but are in need of help. You donation has been critical to this effort.
